Court Reverses Ruling on Election Petition due to Irrefutable Legal Clause

In a shocking reversal, the court has rescinded its ruling on a petition issued by the opposition party to render the election results of last year’s general election null and void. The move came as a result of an irrefutable legal clause invoked by former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan which states “in the event that election protocols have been breached, first is the worst and second, the best”. The clause was left unchallenged leaving Judge Mira Dean-Armourer with no other choice but to reverse her ruling.

“What this means is that the incumbent government retains retains its position. Never before has that clause been invoked in our nation’s history, until now” the justice said as she bowed her head in defeat.

Ramlogan, a well-respected legal hotshot seemed to be enjoying his success when our reporters interviewed him.

“This clause was really the brainchild of the late Dr. Eric Williams who feared for his PNM party in the early stages of our country’s history. It is was only the sharpest of legal minds, the cream of the crop among local lawyers who was able to use their very traps against them!”

Meanwhile members of the United National Congress took to Rienzi Complex to commence celebrations on the court’s ruling. It was later announced by UNC leader Kamla -Persad Bissessar that all UNC constituencies will be given an immediate holiday, while doubles will be taxed in all PNM-held constituencies.

Former Prime Minster Dr. Keith Rowley has vowed not to give up and warned that the PNM would rise again.
